The King of England in 1735 was George II, the last King to be born outside Great Britain. He was born in 1683 and died in 1760. He became King on his father's death in 1727. George II made Kensington Palace the centre of his court life. He fell out with both his father and his son. He was the last monarch to lead his troops into battle in 1743 at the Battle of Dettingen.
