Granville Sharp was born in 1735. (He died in 1813). He is remembered as an early British abolitionist. He was a member of each of the first Anti-Slavery Society and the Committee for the Abolition of the Slave Trade (later, the Society for the Abolition of the Slave Trade), founded in 1787.
